Azam FC gained promotion into the Premier League for the first time ever in their short history in 2008–09. In the 2011–12 season, the club finished in a historic second place and qualified for the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup. ==History== Established in 2007, the first major target of Azam FC was to get the best players who would help the now established club to gain promotion to play in the Tanzanian Premier League. Azam FC joined the top flight of Tanzanian football for the 2008–09 season. Azam FC, with many leading African players, became a force to reckon with in the domestic league.
